  • CROWNS

A crown (“cap”) is a tooth-like covering placed over a carefully prepared pre-existing tooth. Crowns serve many functions, such as to strengthen, restore or improve the appearance of your natural tooth. Crowns may also be used to protect the structure of a tooth that is fractured or broken, and can be attached to bridges or dentures. You may think of a crown as a tooth like helmet for your tooth.

    TEETH WITHENING

Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple “bleaching” procedure. It’s safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any APPOINTMENT if you would like to begin bleaching. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much you show when you talk and smile.

  • TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

Your doctor may determine that you need a tooth extraction for any number of reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed, others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way which cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment. The removal of a single tooth can lead to problems related to your chewing ability, problems with your jaw joint, and shifting teeth, which can have a major impact on your dental health.

    PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. Placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail. We place veneers routinely, and design each case individually to match and enhance the characteristics of each patient’s smile.

  • ROOT CANAL

At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.

    GUM RECONTOURING

Properly proportioned healthy-looking gums can make a big difference in your smile because the shape of your gums affects the shape of your teeth. Gums contouring evens out uneven gums and restores the proper look and proportions to your gumline. UDC can comfortably remove excess tissue to fix a “gummy” smile, and can add tissue to receded gums that make teeth look too “long”.

  • BRIDGES AND PARTIAL DENTURES

A bridge (or Partial Denture) is a custom device anchored to neighboring teeth that replaces one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic (replacement) tooth in place. Crowns and bridges are most often made from superior materials such as semiprecious or precious metals, porcelain, or a fused combination of the two. Appearance, function, and tissue compatibility are considered when selecting the material most suitable for you.

    FILLINGS

Most people need at least one dental filling in their lifetime. Fillings are most commonly used to treat cavities. They’re also used to repair cracked or broken teeth, or teeth that have been worn down over time. At UDC, we use all the latest techniques and equipment to help make the experience as comfortable as possible. And once your treatment is complete, we’ll talk you through how to keep a healthy mouth in the future.

  • ORTHODONTICS

Orthodontics is the specialty of dentistry focused on the diagnosis and treatment of dental and associated facial irregularities. The results of orthodontic treatment can be beautiful smiles, improved dental health and an enhanced quality of life for many people of all ages. Orthodontic problems, which can result from genetic and environmental factors, must be diagnosed before treatment begins. Proper diagnosis involves taking photographs, x-rays, and dental impressions, which enables us to make informative decisions about the form of treatment necessary.

    CLEANING

Daily brushing and flossing will keep dental calculus to a minimum, but a professional cleaning will remove calculus in places your toothbrush and floss have missed. Visit your hygienist, as he or she is an important part of your program to prevent gum disease. Keep your teeth for your lifetime.

  • PERIODONTICS

Periodontal (gum) diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth. The main cause of periodontal disease is bacterial plaque, a sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth. However, factors like the following also affect the health of your gums.

    DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth. Success rates of dental implants vary, depending on where in the jaw the implants are placed but, in general, dental implants have a success rate of up to 98%. With proper care (see below), implants can last a lifetime.

PATIENT TESTIMONIALS

  • "I've been going to UDC since their first office in the Excelsior District, and I hope I never have to find another dentist! They are super nice and attentive and really put you at ease. Don't know much about equipment but all of their technology always seems state-of -the-art and the offices are literally squeaky clean. The receptionist is a super sweet lady as well, she will put coins in your meter and everything! I highly recommend this family owned and operated practice. They offer payment plans and are bilingual (Spanish) and just a great great business all around ."
